Bardos
is a Tibetan Buddhist term that refers to highly charged
moments in our lives--moments of transition such as
in birth and death. Through the juxtaposition of abstraction
with figuration my intent is to evoke the quality
of attention to life that these transitional moments
and charged events invoke. These moments call the
viewer to attention by their contexts and also through
the sensation of the simultaneous compression and
expansion of time.
